Peter Benson Actor - Born Mar 1

Peter Benson is known for his work on What an Idiot (2014), District 9 (2009) and The Wingman (2012). He has been married to Julia Benson since August 8, 2009.

Peter Benson is a graduate of the Vancouver Film School and also has an honors degree in Communications. In 2009 Peter was selected to participate in the prestigious and highly competitive, Totally Television Program through the National Screen Institute (NSI), for a series he wrote and co-created called Kits. In 2010 Kits went on to receive a development deal with City TV who commissioned a pilot episode of the half hour, single camera comedy series. Peter served as the head writer and an Executive Producer on the project. Later that year Peter also co-wrote, produced and directed the short film Scott's Land and he received a Leo nomination for his work on the project. Next up he turned towards making feature films and Peter co-wrote, produced and starred in the horror thriller Death Do Us Part which was released byAnchor Bay Entertainment. After the success of Death Do Us Part, Peter then made his directorial debut with the feature film What an Idiot, which he also wrote, produced and starred in. What an Idiot has had great success on the festival circuit and is now available in North America. For his work on the film, Peter was nominated for Best Director at the Canadian Comedy Awards, Best Actor at the UBCP Awards and won Best Writer at the 2015 Canadian Comedy Awards and Best Director at the LA Comedy Festival. He followed up What an Idiot by jumping into another comedy and directed the mockumentary feature film Marrying the Family, which is currently in post production.

In addition to writing and producing, Peter has also been a very successful actor with over 100 film and television credits to his name. He is a prominent actor on the Canadian independent film scene starring in such films as, Leap For Your Life, Afterparty, Hastings Street and The Wingman. In addition he has played lead roles in a variety of films including A Bride for Christmas, The Break-up Artist opposite Amanda Crew (Silicon Valley), and the twisted thriller Stolen Dreams. He first gained notoriety for his work on the CBC series, jPod and is most widely recognized for his recurring guest star role on the highly acclaimed drama, Hell on Wheels for AMC.
