Supreme courts

In most legal jurisdictions, a supreme court, also known as a court of last resort, apex court, and high (or final) court of appeal, and court of final appeal, is the highest court within the hierarchy of courts. Broadly speaking, the decisions of a supreme court are binding on all other courts in a nation and are not subject to further review by any other court. Supreme courts typically function primarily as appellate courts, hearing appeals from decisions of lower trial courts, or from intermediate-level appellate courts. A supreme court can also, in certain circumstances, act as a court of original jurisdiction.

High court is a name for a variety of courts, often with jurisdiction over the most serious issues.

In Greece, the Hellenic Court of Audit is the supreme audit institution of the Hellenic Republic, auditing the use of public funds in Greece according to the principles of legality, regularity and sound financial management. The Supreme Court of Somaliland (SCS) (Somali: Maxkamadda Sare ee Jamhuuriyadda Somaliland; Arabic: المحكمة العليا في صوماليلاند) is the highest court under the Constitution of Somaliland. The Court holds the power of judicial review, the ability to invalidate a statute for violating a provision of the Constitution. it has ultimate and extensive appellate, original, and advisory jurisdictions on all courts (including the district court and regional court), involving issues of laws and may act on the verdicts rendered on the cases in context in which it enjoys jurisdiction. The court is headed by the Chief Justice of Somaliland who is appointed by the President of Somaliland, the current President of the Court is Adan Haji Ali.

The Supreme Court of Justice (Portuguese: Supremo Tribunal de Justiça) is the highest judicial authority of São Tomé and Príncipe. It is located in a historic building in the centre of the capital city of São Tomé, between the Presidential Palace and the waterfront. The Supreme Court consists of five judges, that are appointed by the National Assembly.

The Supreme Court of Cambodia is the highest Court in the judiciary of Cambodia, under the supervision of the Supreme Council of the Magistrature. It is located in the royal capital of Phnom Penh, and is regulated under Article 55 to Article 73 of the 2014 Cambodian Law on Court Organization.
