Roman Catholic Diocese of Erie

Lawrence Thomas Persico (born November 21, 1950, Monessen, Pennsylvania) is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He has been the bishop of the Diocese of Erie, Pennsylvania since 2012.

John Mark Gannon (June 12, 1877 – September 5, 1968) was an American clergyman of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Bishop of Erie from 1920 to 1966, and was given the personal title of Archbishop in 1953.

Tobias Mullen (March 4, 1818 – April 22, 1900) was an Irish-born clergyman of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Bishop of Erie from 1868 to 1899.

Edward Peter McManaman (May 3, 1900 – July 18, 1964) was a bishop of the Catholic Church in the United States. He served as an auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Erie from 1948-1964.

Donald Walter Trautman (June 24, 1936 – February 26, 2022) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church who served as bishop of the Diocese of Erie in Western Pennsylvania from 1990 to 2011. He previously served as an auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Buffalo in Upstate New York from 1985 to 1990.

John Francis Whealon (January 15, 1921 – August 2, 1991) was an American clergyman of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Bishop of Erie (1966–68) and Archbishop of Hartford (1968–91).

Michael O'Connor, S.J., (September 27, 1810 – October 18, 1872) was an Irish-born prelate of the Roman Catholic Church in the United States and a member of the Society of Jesus. He served as the Bishop of Pittsburgh (1843–53, 1853–60) and briefly as the Bishop of Erie (1853).

The Catholic Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania (CHSWP) is a historical society based in western Pennsylvania. The mission of the CHSWP is to teach and disseminate knowledge of the history of the Catholic Church in western Pennsylvania and the United States, while also working to preserve documents, records, and artifacts related to that history. The Society was founded in 1940 and publishes an annual journal, Gathered Fragments.

St. Mark Seminary is a diocesan minor seminary operated by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Erie and located on a campus in the southeast corner of the city of Erie, Pennsylvania. Seminarians in residence at the seminary pursue philosophy and liberal arts studies at Gannon University. The seminary houses seminarians from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Erie and other dioceses in the region.
