Libraries in Stuttgart

The University of Stuttgart Library (German: Universitätsbibliothek Stuttgart, also UB Stuttgart) is the central library of the University of Stuttgart, a leading research university in the south of Germany which has a strong focus on natural sciences and technical fields of study and research. It provides faculty members, researchers and students of the university's 10 faculties and 150 institutes with literature and other resources. The library is also open to interested individuals outside the university.

The Stadtbibliothek Stuttgart (formerly Stadtbücherei Stuttgart) is the public library of the city of Stuttgart. It is organized as a department of the city's cultural office and comprises the central library, 17 city district libraries, and two bookmobiles. In 2013, it received the national award as Library of the Year.

The Library of Contemporary History (German: Bibliothek für Zeitgeschichte) is one of Europe's largest special libraries for contemporary history, in Stuttgart, Germany.

The Deutsch-Amerikanisches Zentrum/James-F.-Byrnes-Institut is a non-profit, nonpartisan, cultural and educational institution in Stuttgart to support the German-American relations. The cultural institute was founded in 1995 as a successor of the Amerika Haus and intends to provide information on social, cultural, political, and economic issues in both countries.

The State Library of Württemberg (German: Württembergische Landesbibliothek or WLB) is a large library in Stuttgart, Germany, which traces its history back to the ducal public library of Württemberg founded in 1765. It holds c. 4 million volumes and is thus the fourth-largest library in the state of Baden-Württemberg (after the university libraries of Freiburg, Heidelberg and Tübingen). The WLB owns an important collection of medieval manuscripts as well as one of the largest Bible collections in the world.
