The Cairo International Film Festival (Arabic: مهرجان القاهرة السينمائي الدولي‎) is an annual internationally accredited film festival held in Cairo Opera House. It was established in 1976 and has taken place every year since its inception, except for 2011 and 2013, when it was cancelled due to budget limitations and political instability.

The Three Continents Festival (French: Festival des 3 Continents) is an annual film festival held since 1979 in Nantes, France, devoted to the cinemas of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. It was founded by Philippe and Alain Jalladeau. The top award in the festival's competition is the balloon-shaped Montgolfiere d'or. In conjunction with the festival is the Produire au Sud ("Producers of the South"), a project that provides funding to independent film productions from Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

African Film Festival, Inc. (AFF) is a non-profit cultural organization that presents an annual film festival and year-round community programs. Based in New York City, the organization was founded in 1990. The organization is dedicated to promoting greater understanding of African culture through film.

Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) is a non-profit corporation in Los Angeles, California, United States, that states its goal is to promote "cultural understanding among peoples of African descent" through exhibiting art and film. It hosts a film festival and an arts festival in Los Angeles in February of each year. The Los Angeles Times in 2013 called the film festival "the largest black film festival" in the United States.

The Rwanda Film Festival, also known as Hillywood, is a film festival held annually in July in Kigali, Rwanda. The Rwanda Film Festival gained worldwide recognition over the past years and has become one of Africa's major film events.

The Festival of African Cinema (FCAT), also known as Tarifa-Tangier African Film Festival, originally African Film Showcase of Tarifa (Muestra de Cine Africano de Tarifa) (2004–2006) and formerly African Film Festival of Tarifa (Festival de Cine Africano de Tarifa) (2007–2014), the African Film Festival of Cordoba (Festival Cine Africano Cordoba) (2012–2015), is an annual festival devoted to African cinema held in the Spanish city of Tarifa and the Moroccan city of Tangier.

The Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (French: Festival panafricain du cinéma et de la télévision de Ouagadougou, or FESPACO) is a film festival in Burkina Faso, held biennially in Ouagadougou, where the organization is based. It accepts for competition only films by African filmmakers and chiefly produced in Africa. FESPACO is scheduled in March every second year, two weeks after the last Saturday of February. Its opening night is held in the Stade du 4-Août, the national stadium.

Africa in Motion (AiM) is an annual African film festival which takes place in Edinburgh, Scotland, in late October/early November. The primary aim of the festival is to offer audiences in Scotland the opportunity to view the best of African cinema from across the continent. AiM 2013 will be the 8th edition showcasing African cinema, the main hosting venue being Edinburgh's Filmhouse Cinema. The festival was founded in 2006 by Lizelle Bisschoff, a South African researcher based in the UK.

Aswan International Women's Film Festival (AIWFF) was founded in 2017 by Egyptian screenwriter Mohamed Abdel Khalek. It is the first festival geared towards teaching filmmaking to youth in the Aswan region.

Galway African Film Festival (GAFF) was an annual African film festival which took place annually in Galway in Ireland in late May / early June. It was typically scheduled to coincide with Africa Day, and aimed to "showcase the quality and diversity [..] of African films". The festival was organised by the Galway One World Centre in collaboration with the Huston School of Film & Digital Media and the Galway Film Society. Venues for screenings of films included the Town Hall Theatre, Huston School of Film & Digital Media, and Nuns Island Theatre. Previous festivals were supported by Irish Aid, Galway City Arts Office, Galway City Council and the Galway Advertiser. There was no festival in 2020.
