Czech explorers

Kryštof Harant of Polžice and Bezdružice (Czech: Kryštof Harant z Polžic a Bezdružic, 1564 – 21 June 1621) was a Czech nobleman, traveler, humanist, soldier, writer and composer. He joined the Protestant Bohemian Revolt in the Lands of the Bohemian Crown against the House of Habsburg that led to Thirty Years' War. Following the victory of Catholic forces in the Battle of White Mountain, Harant was executed in the mass Old Town Square execution by the Habsburgs.

Alois Musil (30 June 1868 – 12 April 1944) was a Moravian theologian, orientalist, explorer and bilingual Czech and German writer.

Marek "Mára" Holeček (born November 5, 1974, in Prague) is a Czech mountaineer, explorer, author and documentary filmmaker. Holeček has received the 2018 Piolet d'Or award for his successful full ascent on the southwest face of Gasherbrum I with Zdeněk Hák, which he achieved in Alpine style.

Zdeněk "Frank" Souček (Brno, 9 September 1917 – Macquarie Island, 24 December 1967) was a Czech-Australian physician, polar and tropics explorer and traveler.

Jiří Baum (20 September 1900 – 1944, Warsaw) was a Czech zoologist, museum curator, explorer and writer. He served as the director of the zoological department of the National Museum in Prague and is best known in his field for his 1933 book Through the African Wilderness and his 1935 zoological expedition in the Australian outback. In Australia, Baum teamed with Walter Drowley Filmer due to his local expertise with spiders.

Alois Bohdan Brixius (30 September 1903 - 19 February 1959) was a Czech traveller, orientalist, journalist and travel writer.

Benedikt Roezl (13 August 1824, Horomeritz (Bohemia, Austrian Empire) – 14 October 1885, Prague) was a traveller, gardener and botanist (sometimes Benedict or Benito Roezl as called by the Indians). Probably the most famous collector of orchids of his time.

Heinrich Wawra Ritter von Fernsee, born Jindřich Blažej Vávra, (February 2, 1831 in Brno, Moravia – May 1887 in Baden bei Wien) was a Czech-Austrian ship surgeon, botanist and explorer.

Eduard Ingriš (February 11, 1905 – January 11, 1991) was a Czech-American composer, photographer, conductor and adventurer.
