Warner in 1967 under the name Computers and Biomedical Research and was renamed beginning with Volume 34 in 2001, when it was redesigned under the leadership of the current editor-in-chief, Edward H. Shortliffe.

Medical Image Analysis (MedIA) is a peer-reviewed academic journal which focuses on medical and biological image analysis. The journal publishes papers which contribute to the basic science of analyzing and processing biomedical images acquired through means such as magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, computed tomography, nuclear medicine, x-ray, optical and confocal microscopy, among others. JCO Clinical Cancer Informatics is an online peer-reviewed medical journal of oncology and medical informatics published by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). The journal was established in 2017 and the editor-in-chief is Debra A. Patt (Texas Oncology). Articles are published upon acceptance and after 12 months become freely available. It was established in 1970 as the International Journal of Bio-Medical Computing, obtaining its current name in 1997. It is published by Elsevier on behalf of both the European Federation for Medical Informatics and the International Medical Informatics Association, and is the official journal of both societies. The editor-in-chief is Heimar de Fátima Marin (Federal University of São Paulo). According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2016 impact factor of 3.210.

The journal was established in 1992 as Informatics in Primary Care, and was renamed to Journal of Innovation in Health Informatics in 2015 obtaining its current name in 2019.

Medical Decision Making is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes papers in the fields of decision-making and medical informatics. Its editor-in-chief is Alan J. Schwartz (University of Illinois at Chicago). It was established in 1981 and is currently published by SAGE Publications on behalf of the Society for Medical Decision Making. A sister open access journal focusing on applications of medical decision making, Medical Decision Making Policy & Practice, began publishing in 2016.

The Health Informatics Journal is a quarterly peer-reviewed medical journal that covers the field of health informatics. its editors-in-chief are Rob Procter (University of Warwick) and P. A. Bath (University of Sheffield). It was established in 1992 and is published by SAGE Publications. Chris Dowd University of Sheffield was editor from launch to 1997 and M F Smith from 1997 to 2001.
