1957 awards in the United States

The Oscar for Writing Based on Material From Another Medium was awarded to Pierre Boulle for The Bridge on the River Kwai, despite the fact that he did not know English. The actual writers, Carl Foreman and Michael Wilson were blacklisted at the time and did not receive screen credit for their work. Foreman and Wilson have since been acknowledged by the Academy for their contributions.

The 15th Golden Globe Awards, honoring the best in film for 1957 films, were held on February 22, 1958.

23rd NYFCC Awards

The 9th Emmy Awards, later referred to as the 9th Primetime Emmy Awards, were held on March 16, 1957, to honor the best in television of the year. The ceremony was held at the NBC Studios in Burbank, California. Desi Arnaz hosted the event. All nominations are listed, with winners in bold and series' networks are in parentheses. Categories were sorted based on running time, instead of by genre.

29th National Board of Review Awards

The 11th Annual Tony Awards took place at the Waldorf-Astoria Grand Ballroom on April 21, 1957. The Master of Ceremonies was Bud Collyer.

The 10th Directors Guild of America Awards, honoring the outstanding directorial achievements in film and television in 1957, were presented in 1958.

The 10th Writers Guild of America Awards honored the best film writers and television writers of 1957. Winners were announced in 1958.
